NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Video obtained by Fox 8 shows the moments leading up to a triple shooting in the French Quarter early Wednesday (Feb. 14) morning, not long after New Orleans officials signaled the end of Mardi Gras.

The Fox 8 viewer was near the intersection of Royal and Canal streets as the violence unfolded around 12:30 a.m., just half an hour after NOPD Chief Anne Kirkpatrick, Mayor Latoya Cantrell, and other law enforcement agencies did their ceremonial sweep of Bourbon Street.

The New Orleans Police Department says the shooting stemmed from a fight that broke out nearby. Two men and a woman were shot and taken to a hospital for treatment.

“Right now, all we know is that a fight ensued in the 100 block of Royal Street,” said 8th Dist. Capt. Lejon Roberts. “Subsequent to that fight, an individual pulled out a gun and fired several shots. Two males were hit and one female.”

The NOPD says they don’t know the conditions of the victims just yet but will provide updates when more information is available.

No suspects or arrests have been announced.

The NOPD is asking that if you have any information about the fight that broke out or the shooting, you either call the police or make an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers.
