After a run of slow weeks at the box office, Bollywood seems to have redeemed itself with Gabbar Is Back, starring Akshay Kumar and Shruti Haasan.
The film started averagely on Friday but soon picked up pace and by the evening, the film exceeded expectations and notched Rs 13.05 crore in its first day.
Collections dropped slightly on Saturday morning but the film began performing well by the evening, especially in non-metro cities. Gabbar Is Back collected Rs 11.36 crore on Saturday, which is good considering the modest day one collections.
The film continued to do well even on Sunday, adding Rs 15 crore to the kitty, bringing the weekend collection up to Rs 39.41 crore.
Having lost a significant portion of the market to the Marathi film Timepass 2, Gabbar Is Back can hope to reach the Rs 100 crore mark if the film doesn't drop more than 40% over the week to come.
