Jennifer Hudson's brother-in-law is breaking his silence, giving his first interview since he was convicted of murdering the actress' family.

William Balfour told ABC 7 that he had nothing to do with the death of Hudson's mother, 57-year-old Darnell Donnerson, and her brother Jason, 29, who were found shot to death in October 2008 inside their Chicago home.

Three days later police found the body of Hudson's nephew Julian King, 7, who had died of multiple gunshot wounds.

Balfour had recently separated from Julian's mother and Hudson's sister, Julia, who was at work when the murder of her brother and mother occurred and was the first to discover their bodies.

Balfour, who is serving life in prison without parole, also said he has begun to search for the killer and believes he will find the person responsible for the brutal murders.

'I didn't have nothing to do with the case and don't know who had anything to do with the case,' Balfour said at the start of the interview, pointing out much like his lawyers did at trial that most of the evidence in the case was circumstantial.

The only eyewitnesses to the murders were also the victims, but cell phone records placed Balfour in the area at the time and gunshot residue was found on his clothing and inside his car.

He was also found with the keys to a white SUV when he was apprehended by police - the same SUV where the body of young Julian was discovered three days after he was reported missing following the murder of his grandmother and uncle.

Balfour also claims that he was framed and that people lied on the stand, including his ex-wife and Julia.

Both women said that he had threatened to kill them in the past.

'Not one time did I ever threaten her, period,' said Balfour of Julia.

He then spoke about Julian, saying; 'This was a child that I used to see all the time, tried to get him to ride a bike, all the time. I mean... I don't know... Do I miss him? Yea. Do I love him? Yea.'

Balfour was then asked about what he thought of the person who would murder Julian, and replied; 'Heartless, straight heartless. He isn't got no family morals, nothing.'

And as to what he would say to Hudson - who he grew up with and went to school with - Balfour said; 'I didn't have nothing to do with her family being killed. Period.'

Given his strong feelings on the case and claims he had nothing to do with the murders, Balfour was asked why then he decided not to testify during the trial.

He said that decision was his lawyer's, and when pressed further by pointing out he could have overruled that decision, Balfour said; 'I know that. But they was things that was discussed in private about takin' the stand.'

Balfour was also asked why anyone should believe him given the number of people who testified against him in the case and the evidence presented, however circumstantial.

'I mean it's up to them to make sense out of it. Because if you make a statement and the statement don't add up to the way the murders happen - then it's a problem. That's reasonable doubt,' said the career criminal, who had previous arrests for attempted murder, burglary, drug dealing and car theft before his conviction.

The jury deliberated for a little over two days in the case before finding him guilty on all charges - aggravated kidnapping, residential burglary, possessing a stolen vehicle and three counts of first-degree murder.

Hudson was the first witness prosecutors called to testify during the trial, and during her more than 30 minutes on the stand she talked about her murdered family members and spoke endearingly about her nephew Julian, whom she called Tugga Bear.

She said she knew Balfour since the eighth grade but always deeply disliked him.

Balfour had lived in the Hudsons' three-story Englewood home after marrying Julia in 2006, despite Hudson's attempts to dissuade her sister from getting married to the man.

He moved out in early 2008 after falling out with his wife, but witnesses told jurors he often stalked the home.

The killings occurred the morning after Julia's birthday, with prosecutors saying at the trial he became enraged when he stopped by the home and saw a gift of balloons in the house from her new boyfriend.

After his estranged wife left for her job as a bus driver on the morning of October 24, 2008, prosecutors said Balfour went back inside the home with a .45-caliber handgun and shot Hudson's mother Darnell in the back.

He then shot Jason twice in the head as he lay in bed.

Prosecutors said Balfour then drove off in Jason's SUV with Julian and shot the boy several times in the head as he lay behind a front seat.

His body was found in the abandoned vehicle after a three-day search.

Hudson opened up about the tragic loss in an interview last year.

The Oscar and Grammy-winning singer spoke with Glamour and revealed that it was her son David, 6, who helped her through the most difficult time of her life.

'I went from being an aunt, having a mom, and being a child to not having a mom, becoming a mom, and raising my own child,' said Hudson.

'I tell David all the time, "You saved my life."'

She also revealed how angry and hurt the murders still make her, and how hard it is to talk about with others.

'It's frustrating as hell to me to have somebody who ain't lost nothing try to talk to me about it,' said Hudson.

'I want to say, "Don't even bother, because you know nothing." But you never know how much you can get through until you're going through it.'
